ABOUT US

Welcome to Buddachs.com.  My name is Sue.  I live in Saint Helens, Oregon, a small city located 30 miles northwest of Portland along the Columbia River.  I was married for 24 years before my husband, Max, lost his battle with cancer in March 2005.  We have four sons, ranging in age from 16 to 23.  Max loved and spoiled our dachshunds and they would spend much of their day laying with him and giving comfort.

Our first canine family member was a sheltie I brought home when he was only six weeks old in September 1987.  Toddy was closest to our two oldest sons and was our only dog for many years.  When he was 13, we made the difficult, but necessary decision to put him to sleep.

I brought home our first dachshund puppy in September 1999.  The conditions the puppies were raised in were deplorable.  Full of fleas and dirty, the first place Misty went was the kitchen sink.  (After letting others know of these adorable puppies, they were all placed in good homes within a few days.)  Misty turned out to be a wonderful addition to the family and I fell in love with the dachshund breed.

Soon we will have seven dachshunds.  I fell in love with Angel as soon as I saw her photo, and she will be joining us in Max's memory.  Our oldest dachshund, Misty, has been spayed as we had no desire to breed her.  We have since decided to breed the longhair miniature dachshunds, after having difficulty  finding them in this area.

My purpose for creating this website is to share my experiences, joys and fears as a breeder with all dachshund lovers and to encourage all dachshund lovers, whether breeders or not to share their experiences also.  I have shown Crystal in some local dog shows and enjoy attending shows even when I don't show, studying the desired structure of the breed and learning to identify faults, in the hopes I can further breed to the standard, while maintaining excellent health and temperament.  However, my primary goal in my limited breeding program is to place puppies in loving homes to give others the joy and love we get from our dachshunds.

I hope you enjoy visiting this site.  Please do not hesitate to email me with any comments or suggestions you may have.  You may also leave a comment in the public guest book
